Exhibition of ceramics and drawings “Mother Earth” was opened in Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve
June 7, 2016
The one-man exhibition of the sisters housed in the Treasury Chamber of the museum presents creative works made in various techniques in different years. Visitors can see pictures, drawings, sculptures and decorative panels: “Between Heaven and Earth” (2007), “A Stream” (2012), “Cornflowers” (2014), “A Bath-House” (2013), “Cosmic Dreams” (2013), “Alexandra” (2003), the sculptural composition consisting of 7 articles “Blue-Eye” (2008), and others.
The works of Anna and Julia Shabaeva are full of emotional warmth, love for nature, native land and home.
“We can feel the influence of the Ferapontovo outskirts, in particular the Tsypina Hill where they spent their childhood, in the subjects chosen by Anna and Julia. They turn to the traditions of Russian folk culture in their articles and also search for their creative way drawing inspiration from their own life experience and their dreams”, pointed out Irina Gostinshchikova, head of the Permanent and Temporary Exhibition Department.
In their turn, Anna and Julia expressed gratitude to the organizers of the displays and all people who attended the opening ceremony. Besides, the artists told about the history of creation of some works. “You see that there are several works about potatoes in the exhibition. I like to see their first sprouts and their growth. In fact, it is the whole life philosophy and I wanted to capture it”, said Yulia.
“We love our Motherland so much that it is impossible not to speak about it. My sister and I express our love by means of creative activity; we try to convey it to other people. Ceramic images emerge in our imagination in a moment, we don’t think about their implementation in colour and facture”, underlined Anna Shabaeva.
It is worth noting that most of the works of the young artists who are members of the Union of Russian Artists have been recognized at the regional and All-Russian exhibitions.
