Research officers of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve told participants of the regional military patriotic event about the residents of the Kirillov district who had fought in the Great Patriotic War.
March 18, 2017
Employees of the Scientific Department of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve took part in the Second Regional Military Patriotic Readings named after Rotmistr of the Life-Guards I.I. Fedotyev. This event was held in the secondary school of the village of Vashki on March 18, 2017. Ivan Ivanovich Fedotyev - the hero of the Russo-Turkish War – was a native of the village of Kisnema (now Troitskoye in the Vashki district of the Vologda region), sat for the Belozersk and Kirillov nobility in the legislative commission making the Code of Laws of 1766.
The Fedotyev Readings took place for the second time. The First Military Patriotic Readings named after I.I. Fedotyev were held in 2016. Employees of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve also participated in them. This year the guests from Kirillov have presented four reports. L.V. Terebova, head of the Scientific Department, told about the military career of engineer intendant I.M. Kurashev. The report of research officer L.I. Glysina was about N.Z. Pavlov, fighter pilot, participant of the Great Patriotic War, who died 75 years ago. The brave pilot spent his childhood and youth in the Kirilov district. Research officer A.N. Kalikina presented her paper about the residents of the Kirillov district – participants of the wars of the early 20th century and the Revolution of 1917. Besides, hieromonk of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery Nikolay (Ananyev) took part in the conference. He told about the feats of Colonel of the Life-Guards K.A. Schilder in the Patriotic War of 1812.
The subjects of the reports at the conference were various, but all of them were united with one goal directed to memorialize our fellow-townsmen who defended the Motherland, to gather and to preserve materials about the participants of the battles of different historical periods. Igor Sheptura, musician of the Vocal and Instrumental Ensemble “Promotion of Army and Landing Troops Veterans”, performed for participants of the event in the break. P.V. Dedov, chairman of the board of the Vologda Regional Public Organization “Brotherhood of Troopers of the Vologda Region”, presented the Book of Memory of Cherepovets residents who died in Afghanistan and during the Chechen War. Pupils of three schools of the Vashki district took an active part in the conference. They gave 17 reports in the children’s section.
