“Kirillo-Belozersky Siege” took place in Kirillov
From May 28 to 29, 2016
Kirillov got to the epoch of the Time of Troubles for two days. This year’s reenactment was organized according to a new breathtaking script.
By tradition, the battle between the Russian soldiers and the Polish and Lithuanian invaders for the besieged medieval fortress-city was in the centre of the action. Artillerymen, cavalrymen and dismounted soldiers took part in the main battle for the monastery.
The reenactment was held to the entrancing melodies of medieval music performed by the folk group “LaVerden”.
Spectators who supported the Russian warriors were delighted with everything that was taking place on the battle field and greeted the re-enactors with cheers.
Then, according to the festival program, people could see exhibition performances of the clubs of historical reenactment that demonstrated work of the artillery gun crews of the early 17th century.
Participants of the equestrian contests kept the attention of the audience alive in the afternoon.
During both festival days, children and adults had a chance to attend interactive grounds, a historical fair, and the creative workshop located on the galleries of the fortifications in the New Town.
Famous gusli player Maxim Gavrilenko and the “Ladoni” band gave a concert on the main museum stage of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve in the evening on May 28. “Songs of the Russian soul” performed by the artists from Moscow charmed local spectators!
We invite those who couldn’t attend this incredibly spectacular event over the last weekend to come to next year’s festival in Kirillov!
