Museum dedicated “Kirillov” to 620th anniversary of foundation of Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery

This year the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve will hold a number of events marking the 620th anniversary of the foundation of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery. Not only different exhibitions that will be open for visitors, but also publication of the photo album “Kirillov” are timed to this significant event. The book issued together with the LLC “M-Art” contains information about the Kirillo-Belozersky and the Ferapontov Monasteries, the Goritsy Convent, their history and present. You will be also able to find information about the work of the museum-reserve and the nature of the Kirillov land in it.

This edition includes pictures taken by M.A. Valyuzhenich, D.M. Vakhrushev, M.N. Makarov, O.M. Uzorov, A.I. Smirnov and S.A. Pesterev in Kirillov, Ferapontovo, Goritsy, at Tsypino and in the National Park “Russian North” in different years. Turning the leaves of this album presented in different formats (as a hard-cover book and a book in limp covers), you will see landscapes of the northern nature, wonderful views of the architectural monuments, interiors of the exhibition halls in the museum.

This album is intended for general reader. I.A. Smirnov prepared small historical sketches about the life of the monasteries and museum exhibitions writing them in a clear and concise way. Not only our countrymen, but also foreign guests will be able to understand the new edition – there is a brief summary of the texts in English.

You can already buy the new photo album in the souvenir shops of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve. The museum administration expresses gratitude to M.A. Valyuzhenich and the group of photographers for preparation and publication of this beautiful informative album glorifying the architectural and natural monuments of the Kirillov district.
