May 21, 2016
The film “Dionisy” was awarded the State Prize of the RF in the sphere of literature and art in 2003. It tells about the biography and creations of the great artist of Ancient Rus – Dionisy of Moscow and his team. It was shot on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of painting of the unique completely extant fresco ensembles of Ancient Rus in the Nativity of the Virgin Cathedral in the Ferapontov Monastery.
The film “The Monastery’s True Story” was shot by Snezhana Malashina, graduate of the Vologda Regional Training School of Culture, in 2006. It is about the history of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery.
The film “Preserving the Past…” tells about one of the largest treasures of Russia – the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve established in 1924. Presentation of museum collections and unique architectural monuments is closely intertwined with the story about the fickle fortune of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery that was under the patronage of Ivan the Terrible once. The film also tells about the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes located within the walls of the Ferapontov Monastery that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.
Guests could see these films during the whole action. Besides, museum employees organized the historical quest “Mysteries of the Ferapontov Monastery” in the course of which visitors learnt about the history and architectural ensemble of the Ferapontov Monastery. According to the rules of the game, its participants were to answer different questions hidden in the envelopes on the grounds and in the exhibitions of the museum and to piece together a puzzle.
