Results of 15th Ferapontovo Readings

From October 20 to 21, 2016

I.A. Smirnov, deputy director of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve; Irina Parshukova, director the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes; M.S. Serebryakova, veteran of museum affairs and founder of the Ferapontovo Readings; N.M. Tikhomirova, director of the Spiritual and Educational Centre “Northern Thebaid”; priest Kirill Kiselyov; rural dean of the Central Vologda district; archpriest Vladimir Kolosov; rural dean of the Kirillov district and dean of the Kazan Cathedral, greeted all participants and guests of the conference.

On October 20, young researches from different schools of the region and the district presented their reports on the history and culture of the monasteries of the Russian North. All participants of the readings were given souvenirs and authors of five best children’s researches were awarded money prizes.

The winners are:

Dmitry Khudyakov “Churches of Krokhino Quarter” (the Belozersk Industrial Teachers’ Training College);

Vadim Cherepanov “Imitation of West-European Baroque or Masterpiece of Russian Art (Iconostasis of Trinity Cathedral in Troitse-Gledensky Monastery)” (the Secondary School № 2 in Veliky Ustyug);

Ulyana Mitrofanova “God Grant You Good Health… (Postcards of P. Rybina)” (the Novokemskaya School in the Vashki district);

Viktoria Vorobyova “Restoration of Spaso-Yefimievsky Monastery” (the Dvinitskaya School in the Sokol district);

Bogdan Shubin “History of the Chapel “Life-Giving Spring” (the Gymnasium № 2 in Cherepovets);

Dmitry Kholostov “History of One Document” (the Centre of Additional Education in Totma);

On October 21, organizers and guests of the conference presented their researches. Reports were given by employees of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve, the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes, the Cherepovets Museum Association, and the Central Library of Lipin Bor.

It is planned to publish a book with all materials according to the results of the conference.

“Ferapontovo Readings” were  organized by the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes with the assistance of the PJSC “Severstal”, the Education Department of the Vologda region, the Department of Culture of the Vologda region, the Regional Council “Consent”, the Spiritual and Educational Centre “Northern Thebaid”, the Vologda Metropole of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Trusteeship Council of the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes.
