Results of 2016 tourist season were discussed in People’s House

At the beginning of the plenary meeting, M.N. Travnikova, employee of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve, conducted a tour of the exhibition about the professional work of fine art restorer Olga Sokolova staged in the People’s House.

S.V. Usov, head of the Kirillov district, opened the event.

“Tourism was, is and will be one of the main and most promising directions in the economy and development of our district”, stressed S.V. Usov.

He named the key figures characterizing the demand for tourist products of the Kirillov district, “The tourist flow is still growing: 307 thousand tourists visited the district in 2012, 343 thousand - in 2015 and 349 thousand – within nine months of 2016.

As a result of the fall of tourist motor ship entries from 648 in 2014 to 466 in 2015 (also because of the influence of external political and economic factors), the number of foreigners who arrived in the district travelling by ship decreased considerably – from 100 to 30 thousand. This year the number of ship entries has increased to 558; as a result the flow of foreign tourists has also increased to 47 thousand”.

A.V. Yulin, first deputy head of the Kirillov District Administration, gave a thematic presentation to the participants of the meeting. In future they plan to beautify the central part of Kirillov – roads, pavements, façades of the historical buildings, parks. They will also continue making new tourist routes, improving sites and quality of service of guests.

Opening of the Tourist Information Centre in the town and district was an important issue on the agenda.

The main directions of work of the Tourist Information Centre of the Vologda Region were introduced by its head, M.V. Odintsov. He told about the structure of tourist flows and interest of potential tourists.

I.A. Smirnov, deputy director of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve, underlined in his speech that the dynamics of the tourist flow to the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve and the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes was stable. The number of visitors grows every year. “We have advanced according to many figures – it concerns both the general number of visitors and the number of organized tourists. About 300 thousand visitors, including 46,7 thousand foreigners, have come to the famous monasteries of the Kirillov district this year. But the number of individual tourists has decreased to 194 thousand; last year’s figure was 201 thousand. The café has been opened in the museum this year. We have received 9,5 thousand guests during the summer season. It is a good result; we will continue developing this service sector”, said I.A. Smirnov. He also reported about holding of some annual events, exhibitions, large-scale restoration of the ensemble of the Ferapontov Monastery, long-range plans and projects.

Reports about the results of work of the enterprises in the field of tourism in the Kirillov district were presented by: I.Y. Shorina, director of the Travel Company “Pardus”; I.A. Ruchin, director of the LLC “Princely Yard”; M.L. Ganicheva, deputy director of the Department of Tourism and Folk Crafts in the Kirillov District; V.A. Tyulin, deputy director of the LLC “Kont”; A.L. Kuznetsov, director of the National Park “Russian North”; V.S. Sharov, deputy director of the LLC “Ecotel”; T.A. Tarasova, deputy director of the Holiday Camp “Cornflowers”; V.Y. Mishintsev, head of the Peasant Farm Holding “Kurakino”.

At the end of the meeting, S.V. Usov thanked employees of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve for the provision of the ground for the event and an interesting tour.
